Curriculum

With a strongly interdisciplinary approach – ranging from neurobiology, physiology, and pathology to genetics, metabolism, computational neuroscience, and artificial intelligence – the limits2vision program offers an excellent education within a structured, binational framework.

A key component in our program is the student exchange (secondments) between the partner institutes: Students hired for a French project will have a secondment at the IOR in Tübingen, whereas students in German projects will come for their secondment to the IDV in Paris.

The limits2vision PhD students will benefit from various dedicated education and training measures:

  1. Cutting-edge research in experienced labs.
  2. Joint supervision by German and French PIs, with a mentor complementing the supervision team.
  3. Biannual network-wide training courses covering a wide range of topics in vision research, as well as soft skills.
  4. Biannual network meetings with progress reports from all limits2vision PhD students and intensive scientific and technical discussions.
  5. Biannual elective hands-on courses.
  6. Personalised secondment(s) with a limits2vision partner
  7. Vision camp conferences for young researchers
  8. Local training activities offered in Tübingen (GTC Neuroscience) and Paris (Écoles Doctorales)

The curriculum also offers a Visiting Researcher program, communication and outreach activities, and opportunities for participation in national and international conferences.
